Goldman Sachs, Equity Department - Sales Trader

Location: Paris

After application and 8 rounds of interviews I was finally offered the position. The process was extremely tough but the result was rewarding! When it comes to job interviews, my advice for the fellow RBS London students is simple – don’t stress and smile! Internationalism and linguistic skills are essential. Goldman Sachs is an international bank and RBS London is an international school, it is easy to link these two. The more languages you speak the better.

During the interviews, let them know you work hard and learn hard. Familiar with the organisation and the department you are applying and understand how they work. There is no need to pretend to be the smartest and speak on a subject you do not really know! Beware of what’s happening in the business world, awareness and flexibility are crucial!

“It all comes back to the team. Even when you’re making decisions that can affect the entire world you always have people backing you up.” This is the best sentence to define Goldman Sachs, teamwork really is everything. I have learnt to work with people from various backgrounds, which reminds me of studying in RBS London. One of the most important qualities is the ability to handle pressure, to be able to respond efficiently when stress is all around you.

I have spent 11 great months in a fantastic company. The Goldman Sachs experience helped me to find out what I wanted for a career. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Goldman Sachs Paris team. My internship was great with amazing people!
