Features of RBS Postgraduate Courses
In a competitive job market we can help you stand out from the
crowd and achieve success. The RBS London Postgraduate programme
will help you achieve personal competitive advantage by:
- Strong practitioner focus -
Using our many industry contacts, we invite practising senior
business managers into the classroom to bring a practical dimension
to your learning. Understanding more about real world issues
will assist your personal career development.
- Work Experience Opportunities - RBS London
offers postgraduate students help with gaining work experience of
up to six months with a London based firm at the end of the second
semester. Many of our students want to work in the UK as part of
their academic and international experience seeing for themselves
the culture and work practices of international firms. Relevant
work experience in London gives you a significant advantage in the
global job market and helps build your CV. For further details,
please visit the Careers,
Placements & Alumni Section.
- Small class sizes and personal attention - To
help your learning process and build your confidence we encourage
access to your tutors and guarantee that no class size exceeds 25
students. At RBS London you will not have lectures with 100+
other students, and your teachers will know your name. RBS London
has the resources and facilities to provide you with a superior
learning environment but is small enough to encourage a personal
relationship with your fellow students.
- Relevant, Practical Business Skills - We know
that employers want graduates with well-developed practical skills
relevant to the business world. We run a comprehensive
business skills programme making you more attractive to employers,
allowing you to stand out in the crowd. Skills developed
include: Communications, working in teams, problem solving
and analysing data.
- Fast track Sequential MBA programmes -
Completing your MA degree at RBS London not only gives you access
to the American Webster University MBA programme, but also gives
you exemption from 7 of the 12 modules required for the MBA
award. This means that you could complete both the UK MA and
American MBA in 18 months.
Student Diversity
We currently recruit about 120 students per year over our
three MA pathways.
Over 20 nationalities are represented and we aim to
maintain this balance so that you meet and work with a diverse
group of students.
RBS London Postgraduate programmes:
RBS London offers three different MA pathways. All are full time
and last between 12-16 months, depending on
whether you join us in February or October. The first 8
months involve a class-based taught programme, and the final 4
months is spent on your individual research project.
Designed to respond directly to the needs of candidates who
intend to follow a career in international management, this degree
does not assume any business studies knowledge and is therefore
accessible to students with a non-business degree.
Designed for graduates with a non-business degree, this
programme incorporates the practical, theoretical and technical
aspects of international marketing, providing an excellent
foundation for a career in a marketing related area.
Designed for graduates with a non-business degree, This
programme incorporates the practical, theoretical and technical
aspects of international finance, providing an excellent foundation
for a career in a finance related area.
Assessment Policy
This is the same for the three MA pathways. The majority of
assessment is individual using reports and presentations. Most
modules have several pieces of coursework or small presentations
throughout the semester so that you can receive feedback on the
knowledge and skills you have acquired throughout the module and
not just at the end of it. Reflecting the world of work, you
will also work in groups on assessed projects.
Finance for Managers is the only module assessed by an
examination.
A skills programme linked to your assessments helps build your
presentation and report writing skills.
Joining American MBA Programme
Students who take one of our MA programmes at RBS London will be
eligible to join the Webster University MBA programme.
Because your 12 month long MA counts towards the MBA, RBS London
students get exemption from part of the Webster MBA
programme. This means that with as little as 8 months
additional study you can add an American MBA to your British
MA.
As an alternative to studying at their London Campus, students
can also take their Webster programme at any one of Websters international study
centres.
