Regent's Business School London is pleased to offer a new BA (Hons) Leisure Management* commencing September 2011

Hot Air BalloonThis specialist business degree has been designed to meet the specific conditions and demands of the leisure management industry.

Employers in the leisure industry are increasingly looking to employ highly skilled graduates who possess vocationally relevant skills and knowledge in functional management areas such as marketing, human resources and project planning, combined with specialist industry knowledge. This programme provides core management skills, but also offers you the opportunity to explore and develop expertise in one of three
areas of leisure management:

Course Structure Overview - Choice of 3 specialist pathways:

  • Corporate Sports Management
  • Entertainment Management
  • Tourism Management

The degree is 3 years (6 academic semesters) of full time study. The course structure offers a flexible approach to academic progression that allows you to undertake self-directed learning. The ability to choose from a range of electives allows you to personalise your learning to meet your individual study and career objectives.

Work Placement

All pathways incorporate a related Work Placement in the second year of the course (Level 2) in semester 4. This Work Placement allows you to apply theoretical knowledge in a challenging real life situation, to gain valuable hands-on experience and industry insight, and to develop a personal network of industry contacts – essential for a career in leisure management.

Level 1: Broad Knowledge

  • In Level 1 (semesters 1 and 2) all students study the same core modules – these build knowledge in key areas of business and management, as well as providing an excellent introduction to the world of global leisure management.

Level 2: Analysis

  • In semester 3 all students take a range of core modules that have been carefully selected to continue to provide coverage of key areas of global leisure management.
  • By the end of semester 3, you will make your pathway choice, in consultation with your academic advisor and Pathway Leader or Programme Director, from the list above.
  • In semester 4 you commence pathway specialisation and also undertake a pathway-specific work placement.

Level 3: Critical Review

  • This Level allows you to undertake a critical reflection of your chosen pathway through the Dissertation, whilst broadening your critical understanding of the subject area through core modules.
  • Level 3 also provides an opportunity to further explore study options, through the free choice electives – this means that you can tailor your learning and develop a specialist skills base, enhancing your transferable skills.
