Course AimsThis module aims to provide students with the ICT skills requisite for success in the School’s undergraduate programme and, thereafter, essential for successful progression in the business world.
Course ContentThe skills that will be developed will be those on Microsoft Word, Excel,  PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, Gif Animator and sound
Learning OutcomesOn completion of this module, students should be able to:

LO1  Demonstrate the ability to produce coursework assignments requiring the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint at a good standard.

LO2  Produce effective course and business presentations using all aspects of the programme including animation, transition, narration and hyperlinks.

LO3  Understand spreadsheets using basic and advanced Microsoft Excel functions. 

LO4  Create charts for Microsoft Excel. PowerPoint, Word or Web sites.

LO5  Understand the techniques of animations and produce simple yet professional work.

LO6  Understand digital photography and manipulate photographs using Adobe Photoshop.

LO7  Understand website design and demonstrate familiarity with usability issues.

LO8  Produce CDs and DVDs for coursework submissions.

LO9  Demonstrate a basic knowledge of recent developments in knowledge management systems.

PresentationStudents will be taught in seminar groups using teaching rooms with one PC per person. The rooms will be dedicated to certain applications (e.g. Internet). Demonstrations will be provided, followed by question and answer sessions aimed at detailing main points and exploring issues arising in respect of each programme. Computing workshops are structured so that students have the opportunity to question the lecturer directly and to gain immediate assistance in sorting out problems.
